The Bridal Academy Sponsors (The Wedding Place, The Monogram Shoppe, and Megasound) featured the very first “Bridal Academy Tour” on February 28th. A big “thank you” to all of the 2010 and 2011 brides and their guests for being part of the this inaugural event. The best part is that the tour was chock-full with bridal education, store tours, sweet treats and lunch, and a limo journey thru Downtown Fort Wayne.
The event was an enormous success with brides already asking the next tour dates. This sensational time was made possible with help from many Bridal Academy Supporters including the New Shoe of a Different Color, Club Car Limo, One of a Kind Events , Andy Pauquette Photography, Fort Wayne Chocolate Fountain, Elegant Cakes by Carolyn, Lillian Rose, Hampton Inn FW-Southwest, Merle Norman, Bob Mutton Rental, and Orchard Ridge Country Club. The brides certainly enjoyed wedding planning seminars, sweet delights, helpful wedding-prep literature, awesome bridal bags full of special gifts, and much more.
Due to the demand for an encore tour, the Sponsors are working on the next Bridal Academy Tour for 2010. Details will be available as soon as the date and plans are finalized. Check out the Bridal Academy site at www.bridalacademyfw.blogspot.com for information on this upcoming tour event as well as the next two spring 2010 sessions of Bridal Academy (for 3-18-10 entitled “Brides Choice” and the “don’t miss” wrap up on 4-8-10 titled “Bridal Pampering”).

Actors from “Staycee’s Dream Wedding” were on hand this past weekend at the Fort Wayne Bridal Spectacular at the Memorial Coliseum. Thank you to Bower North Productions for coordinating the actors appearance during the bridal show and the intro to the runway fashion shows.
“Staycee’s Dream Wedding” is a cool mixture of an interactive play, wonderful food, wedding solutions, and a cash bar. “Staycee’s Dream Wedding” brings together the brilliant talents of actors from Bowers North Productions and the experienced professionals of the Fort Wayne Wedding Connection. This fusion of entertainment, wedding knowledge, and food gives Fort Wayne brides, grooms, their parents, and wedding party members the opportunity to bring joy back into their own wedding planning as well as learning what NOT to do at weddings and positive options on what will work at weddings.
Arrive a little early on February 26th and be a part of the impromptu bachelor party. The real fun starts promptly at 6pm with a concoction of laughter, folly, and frivolity at the pre-ceremony mixer. Meet the family and friends of the blushing bride Staycee and the nerdy groom Norbert. Then hold on to your seat as the bumpy road down the prenuptial aisle is filled with laughter and antics. As the comical reception rounds out the evening, enjoy culinary creations and sugary masterpieces followed by one-on-one time with real wedding professionals. “Staycee’s Dream Wedding” will fold around you and your family and friends so be prepared to join in the excitement of the evening.
“Staycee’s Dream Wedding” hits the “aisle” Friday, February 26, 2010 at Ceruti’s Summit Park. Tickets are available from any Wedding Connection member or by calling 260.207.2000.

News Release from the Wedding Place
Dawn Quick owner of The Wedding Place and her manager, Tesia Lapp attended a Wedding Professional Seminar at Amelishan Bridal in Huburtus, WI on November 8 & 9th.
The seminar was conducted by Steve Lang, CEO of Mon Cheri’ Bridal. Sunday’s topics included identifying the needs of the bridal customer and how to fill them. Steve Lang also talked on being a “Wedding Professional”. On Monday, Martin Thornburg, designer for Mon Cheri, discussed fabric quality, laces, beading, as well as design of gowns and time frame from paper to completion. Attendees saw photos of the factories in China and an overview of how bridal gowns are designed, created and embellished.
As buyers, sellers and consumers the information presented to the shop owners and employees will make them more knowledgeable as they purchase stock for their stores and boutiques. Those in attendance were invited to discuss alteration problems that could be addressed in the design stages as well as in the field.
The concept of this kind of seminar was initiated by MBBA (Midwest Bridal Buyers Association) three years ago. Each year the topic is different and attracts many shop owners and seamstresses from across the Midwest. This year was the best attended because of the opportunity to discuss design and weddings with a major company’s owner and one if its designers.
The seminar was attended by 13 stores and 80 individuals; owners, employees and seamstresses. All the attending stores are members of MBBA, Bridal Industry Professionals. Attendees were from Iowa, Minnesota, Indian, Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, and Nebraska.
The Midwest Bridal Buyers Association (MBBA) was created 27 years ago. Dawn Quick of The Wedding Place in Fort Wayne, Indian serves as the current president of this professional wedding organization.
